Varberg area 1st week of May (1 Viewer)

I will be in Sweden during the first week of May for work and may be able to add a couple of days birding to the itinery. I have never been to Sweden before so any information on what birds to expect and or photo opportunities would be great.

Getterön just outside Varberg is one of the best sites on the west coast. There are many good observation points and great facilities for birders.

Getterön is the best place to start off in. There is a web page about Getterön here, unfortunately only in Swedish. http://www.getteron.com/getteron/

In this link you find a smmal map: http://www.lansstyrelsen.se/NR/rdonlyres/818F1904-A12C-4753-A32C-8BD07459E96C/0/GetterofolderSV.pdf
Goto to the visitors center, no 1 on the map, and ask for advice. Several top Swedish birders work in the center so they should be able to give you advice relevant to your priorities and recent sights at the venue, or along Halland (part of the Swedish west coast). There are also mounted spotting scopes in the centre where you can view the closest parts of the nature reserve.
Have a good time!
