Hi Everyone,

I hope someone out there with more knowledge than I could help identify a bird seen in the Pudsey area of Leeds over the weekend.

They were magpie/jackdaw size with identical colours and markings to a Hoopoe but without the crest and a much shorter beak than the Hoopoe. There were 2 of them and they were carrying nesting materials back into a wooded area. The same bird was also seen in the same area this time last year.

And, before you ask, it was before the visit to the pub!http://www.birdforum.net/images/smilies/pint1.gif

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi All,

Thanks for your suggestions. I've shown pics of a Jay to the guy who saw the bird and he's pretty convinced that's what they were - he never mentioned the blue on the wings or I would have guessed Jay straight away. So he's settled on Jay. Thanks again.
