Found this Shield bug photo in my archives and would like to put a name to it. Can anyone help...I'm guessing it's a Fern Shield Bug?
Looks like the Dock Bug ( a Coreidae; shieldbug relative), Coreus marginatus- often on docks, squashes + partial to blackberries!
Thanks for that and Harry aswellLooks like the Dock Bug ( a Coreidae; shieldbug relative), Coreus marginatus- often on docks, squashes + partial to blackberries!

Certainly very common down south!
Hi
Found this little fellow in my Luton, Beds. garden today. I think it must be Elasmucha grisea? Sorry about the poor image but I couldn't get a firm footing and it hid as soon as I had taken this shot.

Hi Hugh,
I think this could be Klleidocerys resedae not a shield bug but a true bug ( one of the Lygaeidae ) they normally feed on birch or alder catkins, also known to feed on rhododendron - any of these in the garden or nearby ?

Robert,
It looks like a late instar nymph of the forest bug Pentatoma rufipies
