Red throated Diver site ? (1 Viewer)

During my last visit to Sweden I picked up a leaflet which gave details of a good site for Red-throated Divers.
Unfortunately I appear to have lost this and cannot recall the name of the reserve or site in question.
I was staying in Eskilstuna and my impression at the time was that the reserve in question was approx a 2 - 2.5 hr drive north west of here.
It mentioned a broadwalk and good numbers of birds present at the site where it was possible to get very good views of the birds.
If anyone can suggest where this site may be I'd be very grateful.
Failing this I will probably be staying in the Eskilstuna area again on my next visit so any sites in this area would be of interest especially if they offer good photo opportunities.

Thanks

Knuthöjdsmossen

Hi,
one of the best breeding sites to see the red-throated diver in Sweden is at Knuthöjdsmossen, Hällefors. That is probably the site you is looking for, maybe 2 hours drive northwest of Eskilstuna.

Here you can see the looms at close range while following a well set path. The breeding season starts late April/early May and you can follow the birds trough July. Best time is probably June.

Here are a link to more information:

As well as a map in Swedish.

Hi Hasse - Thanks very much for the information, I think you are probably right in thinking this is the site I was looking for.
I remember it being roughly North West of Eskilstuna and approx a 2hr drive away.
My partner is Swedish and her mother lives in Eskilstuna so it is always interesting to hear of any good sites in the area for bird photography.
On our last visit to Sweden we managed to visit Askovikken and Rordrommen which we thought were very good.
Thanks once again for the information and hopefully we can visit Knuthöjdsmossen when the opportunity arises.

All the best - Rob
