Pleasant run down to Forest of Dean (1 Viewer)

Run out to Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire today.

First stop was Cannop Ponds near Parkend. This yielded Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Chaffinch, Nuthatch, Tufted Duck, Little Grebe, Mallard and the target bird, Mandarin Duck, flushed by a photographer.

Then we went to Parkend itself where brief views were obtained of Hawfinch (my first ever in the UK) and Goldcrest. A pleasant walk up the hill to St Paul's Church yielded Brambling.

Another short drive to New Fancy View enabled 2 Buzzards, 4 Goshawk and some Ravens to be seen.

All in all a pleasant trip in nice, sunny, but cold, conditions made it a worthwhile morning's effort.
