Pileated Woodpecker in Putnam/Westchester (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know if there are any pileated woodpecker in these areas

Pileateds are even found in the Van Cortland Park in NYC, so these two counties are safe bets.

Just came across your post. There are def. Pileateds in Westchester & Putnam. Not too far from you (Mahopac,NY) is Teatown Reservation. Try your luck there.

I got one at FDR park in Yorktown Heights, NY - I walk my dog at Teatown alot and haven't seen one yet

I just saw this one (Feb. 26 2011) in Ossining, near the Hudson.

Ive seen them in almost every decent 10 acre plus wooded area above Armonk.

Learn their call-makes it much easier to locate-they are very loud.
