Parabolic microphones for recording bird vocalizations (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums and to the site as well so I appologize if there is a thread that has already stated my question.

I am looking for a parabolic microphone system that is capable of recording bird vocalizations from a substantial distance. Exceptional sound would be preferred as well as accurate sound reproduction. I was originally thinking about the Gibson Parabolic Microphone System (http://www.pimall.com/nais/bolicb.html). The most common bird that I would probably record vocalizations from would be the Western Screech Owl, and owls in general. Does anyone have any suggestions on a parabolic microphone system that would be ideal for a situation like this? Professional, semi-pro and even consumer are all welcomed, I just need to get an idea of whats out there, whether its expensive or not. Thanks everyone.

Hi Kameron!
There's only one word you need to know; Telinga.

A Telinga Pro6 ( or now a Pro7 I believe) with a Twin Science mic sounds like what you need. I would avoid the Gibson - they make guitars ( not sure if it is the same company) !
