Osprey passing through Gwent (1 Viewer)

WHIMBREL

A lifelong Naturalist...
Read on the Gwent Ornithological Society website of an Osprey on Llandegfedd Reservoir yesterday morning, I'm always interested to find out about sightings of Ospreys passing through Gwent.

The Dyfi Osprey Project are still awaiting the resident pair (Monty & Glesni) and although there are a pair of interlopers on the nest at present its still possible that either Monty or Glesni could return via Gwent and the Usk & Wye rivers.

Any sightings in Gwent would be appreciated (with a time and date if possible please).

Not actually Gwent news, but Monty & Glesni are now both back on the nest at the Dyfi :t: but it just possibly could have been Monty that was seen at Llandegfedd Reservoir on Sunday morning, apparently Glesni came in via Rutland Water.

Our Llandegfedd Osprey was probably not Monty, an Osprey was seen at the reservoir this am, probably the same bird previously seen on Sunday still hanging around.

Perhaps the RSPB and the Gwent Ornithilogical Society should consider a new nesting platform at Llandegfedd, would need to get the anglers onside first though - not easy! Just imagine Osprey breeding in Gwent - ah! we can but dream ;)
