November Moths (1 Viewer)

JWN Andrewes

Poor Judge of Pasta.
Weather's been godawful of late, so tonight's my first go for a bit, and I've been rewarded with a tick, a Brick! You have to want to get one of these, if only for the name!!

Just a single Red-green Carpet “toughed it out” on the parasol last night during the first Autumn frost of the year!

Cheers

4 of 7 last night again without the trap-
4 RGCarpets, December Moth (2foy), Green-brindled Crescent and like JWN up thread, a tick with a Brick!

I ended up doing my last GMS night on Sunday as the wind on the previous two nights was horrendous. The temperature dropped to 2.5c so 2 moths was reasonable. A Juniper Carpet and the first ever Northern Winter Moth for the garden.

28 species (maybe 30 with a couple of Epiritta additions) in habitat on Friday night with the main target Autumnal Moth. But one main reason to get the trap out at this time of year and that is December Moth with one in habitat and another in the garden trap this morning.

All the best

Paul

A very large, female December moth was my second record and what I'm told is Monopis crocicapitella, will be my last tick here.

Good conditions last night, mild and not much breeze, so I relented and put my trap on despite declaring I had finished last weekend.

Zilch. Definitely finished now.

Still “pulling ‘em in” at this end…..14 of 5 species last night/am- to include 3 November types, Yellow-line Quaker, Merveille du jour, 8 RGCarpets and Mottled Umber.
