New species for Opus (1 Viewer)

LOL it did not give the results i am getting now when i checked OUPS, that why i though it was new. a real beautiful Syliva warbler.

Hi Dulce! I didn't see it prior but it probably is a case of the wrong/misspelled scientific name and that's why you don't get results when you click on Opus. ;)

LOL Helwa KC then i guess it is a second false alarm.

i was stunned to know that there is a Sylvia warbler that i never heard of, learn new everyday.

Yes it was the scientific name. The gallery entry carried the subspecies as well so I created a redirect page so the link would work.

The more eyes the better when looking for new species :t:

Indeed it is a beautiful bird Dulce.

It's a Rufous Sibia; a slight mis-spelling in the scientific name is the reason you couldn't reach it.

I'll go and correct it now.

Thanks

D

WOW in OPUS shot it is looking much like the red whiskered bulbul, no kidding i have being invited to a wedding in Kashmir in July, have to consider going :-O

Hi, Mods! :hi:

I doubt the Elegant Tit is a newbie for Opus (I suppose it has an altentative name that I don't know) but I say it here just in case. It's a rarity in this gallery and it's worthy to have it well named to link correctly to Opus:

http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=29338

http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=35112

(was this maybe a juvie?)

http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=55149

And this others have the species starting with capital letters, so it doesn't link anyway to Opus:

http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=308402

http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/315875/limit/recent

I was suggested to do this if I find mistakes or inaccuracies, so here I am! ;)

Hope this helps! o:)

Cheers everybody!!! B :)

Edit: I've just done a more convenient reseach in the gallery and I couldn't find more pictures, but in the web I found the scientific name "Periparus elegans"... just can't believe it can be a new species to Opus!!! :eek!:

Thanks for spotting this Marian.

It appears that Elegant Tit has had 3 scientific names:

Parus elegans
Periparus elegans
Pardaliparus elegans

I'll make a start on trying to sort this later - thanks for the links I've corrected the two that have been capitalised.
