peter.jones 5th April self-isolating sightings
Ran my moth trap overnight for an added incentive to get up early.
Live in North Baddesley, just north of Southampton, large village, surrounded by a belt of farmland, woodland, and low grade relict New Forest habitat.
Garden is tiny, but has a brook running nearby and small patch of parkland beyond the garden.
Sat in the garden 7am to 11am with the following sightings:
Blue tit,
great tit,
coal tit.
Long tailed tit,
Jackdaw,
carrion crow
Woodpig
Coll dove
Wren,
song thrush,
robin
Bullfinch
Goldfinch
Starling
Ring Ouzel m 07:30
Blackbird
Rook
Magpie
Chaffinch
Greenfinch
House sparrow
Herring gull
Goldcrest
Nuthatch
Dunnock
Kestrel
Sparrowhawk
Pied wag
Lesser black backed gull
Buzzard
Ring Ouzel totally unexpected, and difficult to find anywhere in the local area. Proves anything is possible with our hobby.
Appeared to fly low from rough area beyond garden into tree tops where I got a good view.
Must try this again! photos of surrounding view. Garden is really small, and very limited view of of sky sadly.
