Just a Herring Gull? St Andrews, Scotland (1 Viewer)

Stonefaction

Dundee Birding....(target 150 in 2024).
Scotland
Spotted this Gull at St Andrews yesterday in company with an adult Herring Gull. I reckon it is most likely just a non-adult Herring Gull, but the overall "clean/white" look with the darker bill made it look a bit different to what I'd expect. I suspect it is just a non-adult Herring Gull moulting out of winter plumage though, but just in case it is something a bit more unusual, I thought I'd ask in here for confirmation.

Still can't get my head around the non-adult Gulls (except Black Headed and Common and some Great Black Backeds). Want to get better at it though, but looking at the mass of photos/info in the books my brain just seems to switch off. Anyone got any tips on the best ways to learn the differences or what particular features to look for?
