There is an event this Sunday 21 July being run by Durham Bird Club.
Details on the attached poster and route on the attached image.

Come along for this FREE 2km guided walk, on Sunday 21st July (10am -12 noon), looking at the farmland birds of Cleadon Hills.

Event Details:

When: Sunday 21 July, start at 10am, finishing at 12 noon (approximately)

Where to Meet: The bus terminus on Cleadon Hill Road, opposite the Lonnen, South Shields (at Grid Reference NZ386637). Public transport, the No. 12 bus runs from South Shields (Mile End Road) every 30 minutes on a Sunday and terminates at this location.

What to Wear/Bring: Wear outdoor clothes and walking shoes/boots, dress as appropriate for the weather/temperature; bring binoculars, if you can.

Parking: Limited car parking is available along Cleadon Hill Road, but please park sensitively as this is a residential area.

Degree of Difficulty: The walk’s ‘degree of difficulty’ has been assessed as ‘moderate’, it is largely on ‘grass surfaces’, there is one steep, but short ascent, and one moderately steep descent. The walk isn’t suitable for those with limited mobility.

I don't think you need to book.

A colossal 400-500 Greylag this evening in stubble between West Meadows Road and Sunderland Road, Cleadon Village. This must be, by far, a South Tyneside record. Numbers have been building rapidly past few days with birds commuting between here and Boldon Flats.

Wow that's some number, I thought there seemed to be more than normal around when I counted over 200 at the flats the other day.

Still an excellent number of Greylags tonight. Mostly in the large stubble field opposite Acad Pools entrance, Managed to fit about 350 into this shot but there were a few more just out of shot and also another 40 or so still at the flats so I would say there's easily 400+ in total.

They all flew SW over the Greyhound stadium as it was getting dark.
