61 Tufted Duck, 19 Gadwall, 5 Little Grebe, and 2 Oystercatcher, were on the pools, with 6 Reed Bunting present in the reed beds, whilst 2 Grey Wagtail, were also noted around the perimeter's.

The on site Black Headed Gull colony, now number's in excess of 400 birds.

9 Skylark, 2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Fieldfare, 7 Linnet, 2 Raven, 5 Stonechat, 2 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard, and a hunting Short Eared Owl, were around the rough grassland area.

2 Little Owl, were seen along the site's riverbank footpath.

48 Tufted Duck, 12 Gadwall, and 6 Little Grebe were on the pools, with 3 Grey Heron, around the edges.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing throughout, with 7 Reed Bunting, a Snipe, and a Water Rail, present in the reed beds.

100 Redwing passed through.

The woodland held a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.

The pools held....68 Tufted Duck, 3 Moorhen, 15 Gadwall, 3 Little Grebe, 4 Teal, 4 Oystercatcher, 4 Coot, and a Great Crested Grebe.

7 Reed Bunting, and a Water Rail were in the reed beds.

2 Cetti's Warbler, were heard singing throughout.

The first singing Chiffchaff of the year, was recorded on site, 4 day's earlier than last year, ( 2015 date, was the 21/03 ).

8 Skylark, 11 Linnet, 3 Kestrel, 2 Raven, 2 Buzzard, and 2 Mistle Thrush, were around the rough grassland area.

The on site Jackdaw roost, numbered approximately 500 birds.

The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, ( female ), was still present in the woodlands, but proved to be very elusive.

The Jackdaw roost, held approximately 500 birds.

69 Tufted Duck, 8 Moorhen, 7 Little Grebe, 19 Gadwall, 6 Coot, 5 Mute Swan, and 2 Oystercatcher, were on the pools.

2 Cetti's Warbler, were heard singing throughout, with 11 Reed Bunting, and a Water Rail, present in the reed beds.

2 Buzzard, 15 Skylark, 10 Linnet, 2 Kestrel, 9 Meadow Pipit, 4 Redwing, 2 Pied Wagtail, and a Sparrowhawk, were seen around the rough grassland area.

3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, the first singing Goldcrest of the year for the site, 2 singing Chiffchaff, and a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker ( female ), were noted in the woodlands.

80 Tufted Duck, 5 Oystercatcher, 3 Little Grebe, 4 Moorhen, 2 Coot, 12 Teal, 2 Mute Swan, 12 Gadwall, and a Great Crested Grebe were on the pools, with 2 Grey Heron, 2 Snipe, 1 Greenshank, and a Green Sandpiper, seen around the perimeter's.

6 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Raven, 12 Skylark, 7 Linnet, and 12 Meadow Pipit, were seen around the rough grassland area.

The first Blackcap of the Spring, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 6 singing Chiffchaff, were noted in the woodlands.

2 Cetti's Warbler, were heard singing throughout, with 4 Reed Bunting, also present in the reed beds.

The Black Headed Gull colony, held 2 adult summer, and 1 2nd Winter Mediterranean Gull.

70 Tufted Duck, 4 Little Grebe, 14 Gadwall, 12 Mallard, 5 Coot, 1 Oystercatcher, 3 Moorhen, 5 Teal, 3 Mute Swan, 1 Greenshank, and 1 Great Crested Grebe were on the pools, with 2 Grey Heron hunting the perimeter's.

11 Skylark, 5 Pheasant, 2 Kestrel, 13 Meadow Pipit, 3 Pied Wagtail, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Buzzard, and 2 Raven, were around the rough grassland area, where there was also a mixed finch flock, which contained, 58 Chaffinch, 5 Goldfinch, and 11 Linnet........22 Fieldfare were noted passing through.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing throughout, with 10 Reed Bunting present in the reed beds.

The on site Jackdaw roost, held approximately 500 birds.

2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 singing Chiffchaff, and a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker ( female ), were noted in the woodlands.

The on site Black Headed Gull colony, which is situated on the 'Tern Rafts', held approximately 400 birds, with 3 Mediterranean Gull ( 2 Adult Summer, and 1, 2nd Winter ), remaining on the ' Rafts ' also.

A couple of hours after work, searching for migrants on site, produced 1 Swallow, hawking over the pools....16 day's earlier than last year, ( 2015 date, was 09/04 ).

49 Tufted Duck, 6 Moorhen, 6 Coot, 9 Mallard, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall, 7 Teal, 4 Little Grebe, and 3 Mute Swan, were on the pools, where a second Great Crested Grebe, has now joined the first bird,.... raising hopes, that the well established pair on site, will breed successfully again this year.

1 Greenshank, and 1 Grey Heron, were seen around the pools perimeter's.

3 Cetti's Warbler, were heard singing throughout, with 2 Reed Bunting present in the reed beds.

2 Stonechat, 8 Skylark, 1 Buzzard, 6 Pied Wagtail, 3 Meadow Pipit, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, and 4 Pheasant, and also, a finch flock which comprised of, 4 Goldfinch, 12 Chaffinch, 7 Linnet, and 1 Brambling ( male ), were all noted around the rough grassland area.

6 Chiffchaff, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 1 Coal Tit, were noted in the woodlands.

A search for migrants early on this morning, produced 2 Wheatear (male/female ), 2015 arrival date ( 09/04 ), and also around the rough grassland area, were 2 Buzzard, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Raven, 12 Skylark, 2 Mistle Thrush, 1 Kestrel, 1 Blackcap, and 16 Starling, whilst the mixed finch/pipit flock contained,....24 Chaffinch, 11 Goldfinch, 7 Linnet, 3 Meadow Pipit, and 2 Brambling ( male/female ).

9 Mallard, 3 Mute Swan, 2 Moorhen, 60 Tufted Duck, 9 Gadwall, 2 Oystercatcher, 5 Little Grebe, 10 Coot, and 2 Great Crested Grebe, were on the pools, with 1 Grey Heron around the perimeter's, and also, 1 Water Rail, and 2 Reed Bunting occupying the reed beds.

5 Chiffchaff, 1 Jay, and 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, were noted in the woodlands.

1 Cetti's Warbler, was heard singing.

The pools held.... 1 Sand Martin, ( 2015 arrival date, 15/04 ), 4 Swallow, 59 Tufted Duck, 4 Moorhen, 8 Mallard, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Coot, 8 Gadwall, 2 Little Grebe, 6 Teal, 2 Oystercatcher, and 3 Mute Swan, with 3 Grey Heron around the margins, and 8 Reed Bunting present in the reed beds.

2 Pheasant, 13 Linnet, 6 Skylark, 5 Pied Wagtail, 6 Raven, 2 Kestrel, 4 Stock Dove, 2 Buzzard, 4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Fieldfare, and 3 Wheatear, were noted around the rough grassland areas, where there was also 2 Ruff, and a flyover Great White Egret noted.

The woodlands produced, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Jay, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and an uncountable number of Chiffchaff.

The Black Headed Gull colony, consists of approximately 500 birds.

3 Cetti's Warbler, were heard singing throughout.

The pools held....2 Oystercatcher, 9 Mallard, 59 Tufted Duck, 4 Moorhen, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Little Grebe, 7 Gadwall, 13 Coot, 5 Teal, and 3 Mute Swan, with 2 Greenshank, 4 Grey Heron, and 1 Ringed Plover, seen around the margins.

The reed beds held..... 4 Reed Bunting, and 5 Cetti's Warbler, which were heard singing simultaneously......( an on site record ) !!!

The rough grassland areas held......8 Linnet, 10 Skylark, 7 Wheatear, 3 Pheasant, 2 Kestrel, 4 Pied Wagtail, 2 Buzzard, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Raven, 4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Peregrine Falcon, ( female was seen taking a Pigeon ), a Marsh Harrier ( female ), 3 Short Eared Owl ( hunting ), and 2 Great White Egret, ( both birds, were recorded as flyovers ).

The woodlands held.....1 Bullfinch, 2 Blackcap, numerous Chiffchaff, and 5 Willow Warbler ( 2015 arrival date, 11/04 ).

A couple of hours, searching the steelworks after work today, to principally, find some more 'new' Spring arrivals..........

1 White Wagtail ( 2015 arrival date, 26/04 ), was found passing through the small area of short cut grass, which is situated on the rough grassland area.

1 Osprey, was seen being 'mobbed' by Herring Gull's, as it drifted over the pools this morning, ( 2015 arrival date.....No birds were recorded passing through the site ).

48 Tufted Duck, 10 Mallard, 8 Gadwall, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 8 Coot, 4 Little Grebe, 2 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 6 Oystercatcher, 2 Moorhen, and 3 Mute Swan were on the pools, with 2 Grey Heron, and 1 Greenshank, around the margins.

2 Reed Bunting were seen in the reed beds.

4 Pheasant, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 1 Sparrowhawk, 6 Linnet, 14 Skylark, 2 Kestrel, and 2 Wheatear, were seen around the rough grassland areas, with 8 Buzzard, being noted soaring overhead.

The woodlands held....Numerous Chiffchaff, and Willow Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 1 Jay, and 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing.

3 Oystercatcher, 10 Mallard, 77 Tufted Duck, 7 Coot, 2 Little Grebe, 6 Gadwall, 4 Moorhen, 3 Mute Swan, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Swallow, and 1 Sand Martin were on the pools, with 2 Greenshank, 2 Grey Heron, and 1 Common Sandpiper ( 2015 arrival date 09/04 ).

2 Reed Bunting were noted in the reed beds, and also noted there,....were 3 singing Cetti's Warbler.

The rough grassland areas held, 6 Pheasant, 8 Wheatear, 4 Buzzard, 6 Linnet, 12 Skylark, 2 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 2 Stock Dove, 4 Pied Wagtail, 1 Sparrowhawk, 6 Meadow Pipit, 1 Short Eared Owl, and 1 Hen Harrier ( ringtail ).

The woodlands held, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 4 Blackcap, and numerous Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler.

The assembled gull's, also contained 1 Little Gull ( 2015 arrival date....No birds were recorded passing through the site ).

22 Mallard, 46 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebe, 18 Gadwall, 6 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 4 Teal, 3 Mute Swan, 11 Shoveler, 4 Oystercatcher, 4 Swallow, and 1 Sand Martin, were on the pools....with 1 Greenshank, 2 Grey Heron, and 2 Common Sandpiper, present around the margins.

1 Kestrel, 8 Meadow Pipit, 2 Pied Wagtail, 2 Stonechat, 11 Wheatear, 1 Sparrowhawk, 18 Skylark, 7 Linnet, and 5 Pheasant, were noted around the rough grassland areas.....160 Golden Plover, were seen as flyovers.

The woodlands held, numerous Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler, 3 Siskin, and 7 Blackcap.

2 Reed Bunting, were present in the reed beds, where 4 Cetti's Warbler, were also heard singing.

21 Mallard, 2 Moorhen, 35 Tufted Duck, 7 Gadwall, 7 Coot, 10 Teal, 4 Oystercatcher, 3 Little Grebe, and 2 Mute Swan, were on the pools....with 3 Greenshank, 2 Greylag Goose, and 2 Grey Heron around the margins.

5 Reed Bunting were in the reed beds, where 4 Cetti's Warbler were also heard singing, with 1 bird, giving very brief views as it sat in a low bush.

7 Wheatear, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 12 Meadow Pipit, 10 Skylark, 2 Stock Dove, 4 Linnet, 4 Buzzard, 5 Pheasant, and 2 Shelduck ( a good on site record ), were around the rough grassland areas.

Numerous Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, and Blackcap were in the woodlands.

1 Little Owl, was noted along the adjacent public footpath.

9 Mallard, 1 Little Grebe, 50 Tufted Duck, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Coot, 14 Gadwall, 3 Teal, 1 Mute Swan, 2 Moorhen, 2 Oystercatcher, and 1 Swallow were on the pools, with 2 Greenshank, and 2 Grey Heron, around the margins.

2 Reed Warbler ( 2015 arrival date, 15/04 ), and 1 Sedge Warbler ( 2015 arrival date, 17/04 ), and 4 Reed Bunting were in the reed beds, where 5 Cetti's Warbler, were also heard singing.

The rough grassland and scrub areas,....7 Buzzard ( soaring ), 9 Wheatear, 8 Meadow Pipit, 1 Raven, 2 Pied Wagtail, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 14 Stock Dove, 2 Kestrel, 18 Skylark, 22 Linnet, and 7 Pheasant, whilst the 2 Shelduck still remain......1 Great White Egret, was noted as a flyover.

1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 2 Goldcrest, joined the the newly arrived Blackcap, Willow Warbler, and Chiffchaff in the woodlands.

1 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 9 Gadwall, 2 Oystercatcher, 49 Tufted Duck, 3 Mallard, 8 Shelduck, and 1 Mute Swan, occupied the pools, with 2 Grey Heron around the margins.

The rough grassland and scrub.......1 Marsh Harrier ( female ), 1 Green Woodpecker ( a good site record ), 1 Lesser Whitethroat ( 2015 arrival date 21/04 ), and 13 flyover Whimbrel ( 2015 arrival date 24/04 ), 21 White Wagtail, 8 Linnet, 2 Pheasant, 22 Meadow Pipit, 12 Skylark, 2 Pied Wagtail, 1 Mistle Thrush, 12 Stock Dove, 7 Wheatear, and 2 Buzzard were noted.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing, with also 1 Reed Warbler, and 1 Sedge Warbler.

The usual mix of common species, were noted in the woodlands.

4 Mediterranean Gull ( Adult Summer ), 10 Gadwall, 8 Mallard, 2 Moorhen, 34 Tufted Duck, 2 Coot, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Shelduck, 2 Sand Martin, 5 Swallow, 1 Mute Swan, and 1 House Martin ( 2015 arrival date 02/05 ), were on the pools, with 2 Grey Heron, 4 Oystercatcher, and 2 Avocet ( a good site record.....No birds were recorded passing through the site during 2015 ).

3 Cetti's Warbler, 7 Reed Bunting, 2 Sedge Warbler, and 3 Reed Warbler, were in the reed beds.

5 Wheatear, 2 Meadow Pipit, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Raven, 6 Skylark, 6 Linnet, 4 Pheasant, 2 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard, 4 Lesser Whitethroat, and 1 Common Whitethroat ( 2015 arrival date 17/04 ), were noted around the rough grassland and scrub areas.

3 Great Spotted Woodpecker were of note, amongst the common woodland species.
