Amazingly hard to see these from a distance against the rocks that provide the perfect cover. I am an amateur photographer rather than a birder, so it might not even be a curlew. Location: Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura.

Would say with the crown stripe it is a whimbrel, maybe move to the ID section to be confirmed

It’s a Whimbrel. You can see the pale stripe on the crown.

Thank you both, I concur, It is a Whimbrel. Great name, and a type of curlew, so I'll make only a modest retreat. Will try and edit appropriately.
