I dismissed this insect in the field as an Egyptian Grasshopper Anacridium aegyptium but on cataloging my photos from a recent visit to Álora I find I have a new species for me - Acanthacris ruficornis Brown-headed Grasshopper.
It's an african grasshopper but has become established in Cadíz province fairly recently in the east of Andalucia and is now moving eastwards.
