    Wow, that's pretty varied. And there was me thinking I'd whacked a fair number of the species... Thanks! I wonder if it's possible at some point to compile a database of photos from here showing all the different species and their stages?

    And the last one... Another nymph, of one of the previous types(?). There were others, but I couldn't get in the brambles to photograph them. Any ideas on ID? Thanks, Tony

    Shieldbugs galore! It was like something from the set of Starship Troopers by the river today - there were shieldbugs everywhere. Here's a few photos... I guess 1 and 2 are nymphs, 3 has maybe three types of nymphs(?), 4 is maybe a dock bug, and 5 - don't know.

    Apologies for being a bit lazy and not looking through all of the thread to see if it's already here, but anyone care to have a pop at this critter? Taken just inside Berkshire (50 yards from the Surrey border and 100 yards from the Hampshire...) earlier today. Thanks, Tony
