Hi Very nice feather detail indeed. It's funny how when it does come together it really does come together. Well done.

Malc Thank you for your kind words. I think if anybody new the time it takes for any of the many sites put together by various members then half the websites would not be up and running, as yes it takes up a lot of time. I think one of the biggest factors in the websites ongoing is the hope of...

    Nikon P5100

I must admit that nothing...as of yet has made me feel that I want to change from the P5100. I had a quick go with the P6000 at the Birdfair but not enough to form an opinion. The high cost is stopping me from just saying "I will try it" as I feel any improvement would be minimal hoping instead...

Hi Martin Good luck on your new found camera and looking forward to your pictures. Welcome to the forum.

    Nikon P5100

Hi Dave I think you have chosen a real challenge here with using binoculars for flight shots with a P5100. My opinion of the camera is that the only thing that annoys me about this camera is the focus ie speed and lock accuracy. This is only my opinion of course as others seem not to bother...

Hi Steve These are the settings I personally and normally use. http://www.wildrossendale.co.uk/60.html

Hi I have put together a quick fire settings page on my website if this helps you in your new found challenge! http://www.wildrossendale.co.uk/60.html

SD and SDHC does not refer to speed of the card as Andrew kindly mention this means "SD=Secure Digital" and "SDHC=Secure Digital High Capacity" The read and write sppeds are card specific and each card should give the info of the "speed". The extreme III cards are excellent and also very good...

    Nikon P5100

I think that you should be pleased with these results. I have tried myself without much success. The best is below. I use same settings as you except I pre focus the scope on where I think the bird id going to be and then take the shot as well as trying to move the scope with the bird but it is...

    Nikon P5100

Hi Smeyer Glad you got the continuous mode working. Looking at the distances you mention I think the pics are very good. I don't really bother with much after 20m or so. Well done indeed!

Hi Sylvia My preference is posted below if you click on the link although others will use slightly different ways. http://www.wildrossendale.co.uk/60.html

    Nikon P5100

Hi I normally have these same symptoms when the camera is not "dead centre" or "square" to the eyepiece. I would say check again to see if camera lens is square on and dead centre. Hope this helps.

    Nikon P5100

Hi . I purchased some of these and seem fast enough, although I feel the camera is the limiting factor to the write speed. http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/4949672/SanDisk-4GB-SD-Extreme-III-Card/Product.html

I am really looking forward to getting some good light to really test it's ability. I managed this in Dec time I think in some rather dullish weather with lots of cover.

    Nikon P5100

Having used this camera for a little while now I am quite pleased with the results although the only two points where I personally find it a distraction is the much discussed slow focus lock and the positioning of the zoom lever. I am used to the NV3 and the SRB universal swing away adaptor and...

    Nikon P5100

Hi PC Which bracket do you use? Looking at some of the photos it seems you may not have the camera dead centre. It all helps for that final image. Getting better though. And that WC Sparrow is better than 99% of the people have on here!

Yes try a few out with the zoom on the camera set just so that vignetting is not visible. Let us know how you go.

    Nikon P5100

Hi I would say that over this distance you have done well. Digiscoping is subject to the same limitations as any photography, namely air impurities and pollution inc heat haze.pollen, dust etc etc. If you talk to any digiscoper they will tell you to keep the cameras zoom down and the distance...

    Nikon P5100

Hi Pelican Looking at your exif info I would probably say that the distance between you and the subject is the problem. It looks like you are using a lot of the cameras zoom when in effect only the first 2-3 clicks are really going to give you a qulity image. What distance were you from the...

    Nikon P5100

Hi Neil I am watching your opinion on this camera as I am not sure it is worth the extra over the P5000. I had a quick look at it and was surprised that they had not done anything with the slowish AF. Really appreciate your views on this as I will be waiting for yours, and others, view on this.
