I know this is not relayed to Upton Warren but as we all love seeing osprey just wanted to share some not so good news. This years osprey chick from Dyfi (the only one of 3 to survive and migrate) has sadly died. Apparently it got tangled in some netting and drown

The Badger Cull petition has now reached 111,000 signatures, but for it to be debated in Parliament it needs an MP to request a debate. Lobby your local MP to do it. I have emailed / tweeted mine. If we lobby enough they will have to debate it.

We've had the fortune to have brilliant views of an osprey recently before it left on its mammouth journey. For those interested (you may already know) the Dyfi osprey chick Cuelan made it to Senegal safely but one of the Rutland birds '09' was not so lucky. It was lost over Morocco.

We saw it on top of the boat mast, it then took its first fish at 6.50, went to the Flashes to eat it, last seen at around 8.30am heading towards Tardebigge

Absolutely wonderful pictures. Went to Dyfi and Rutland to see the osprey this year (incidentally the Dyfi osprey chick is on his migration at the mo, started Monday) but this takes it to a whole new level seeing them on your own patch - what a stunning bird!

Regarding the 'all-dayer', is it something that I can get involved in? I am not an expert by any means but a 'keen to learn' amateur and am happy to lend a pair of eyes / hands / ears or what ever is needed.

Thanks to everyone I spoke to at UW today for pointing out various things of interest. The views of the peregrine in front of the moors hide taking at least 3 swifts / swallows (difficult to tell which it was) this afternoon was a real buzz for me. Not so good for the swift or swallow granted...

I am quickly becoming addicted to UW, the variety of birds is fantastic and the photos of the species when I can't get there are great too. Thank you, I am learning so much from your posts... I have a question which someone may be able to answer, I recently visited Chelmarsh Pool, not in the...

I am relatively new to Upton Warren, having visted on 3 ocasions over recent weeks. I guess I am migrating from garden birds to a more varied variety you could say. I have a question which I am sure you can answer. Re: the osprey sighting, would you expect any more sightings or would it be a...
