Terek Sandpiper at Walmsley Sanctuary Adrian Langdon, the CBWPS Warden for the reserve has commented on access for tomorrow as follows: "I’ll open the hide at 06:30 and ask for it to be left open for the day. I’ve arranged parking for a voluntary donation of £2 in the field by the bridge. It...

Drake Hooded Merganser, an American species which is also kept in captivity and has been known to escape/wander. I don't suppose you noticed if it was fully winged or had a ring on its leg? Dave

I doubt the Buzzards have caused the shift, they have always been present as have a pair of Sparrowhawks and a Peregrine. I have even seen a Bittern sitting up in the reeds snapping away at them, though never successfully. Dave

For what it's worth, I'm guessing that the sheer volume of birds flattened the reeds until they became unsuitable for roosting and then they moved on. Dave

Will, I fail to see how you could possibly construe my post as petty. If you call pointing out that I have uploaded more than 10x (11.449153x if you want to be petty) the number of photos as Paul petty, well yes and I'm proud of it. However, I would call it informing members on this forum of the...

The BBC forecast for Friday is a light westerly wind (up to 12mph) so either site, but by midday the winds pick up and swing SW so I would suggest Porthgwarra. However I'm no expert and have been known to make the wrong call and the forecast could well be revised by Friday anyhow! As a rough...

I lost my connection for over a week last month, so I had to go to Wetherspoons every evening to pick up my e mails and do the update. It's a tough job but someone has to do it! I wasn't aware of any records of Cetti's Warbler at Ryan's Field, so I contacted Dave Flumm the RSPB site manager and...

I'm pretty sure you're right about the last Kentish Plovers in the county, found by Derek Julian if my memory serves me correctly. Given reasonable views, the id is relatively straight forward, so hopefully not too many have been overlooked. However I dare say some must slip through unseen...

That thought had crossed my cynical mind. If that is the case, I just wish they would be honest about it. Dave

Hi Adam, Initially a councillor told the Cornishman that it was to get rid of the overnight parking, so I e mailed to the planners and told them that while I might agree with their objective there were several simpler and cheaper ways of dealing with the problem. Five months later, I had heard...

Looks like I got my wish sooner than I dared hope. (Should've wished for a Sandplover!) The female Kentish Plover has been joined by a nice male this evening, in front of the old coastguards hut, just west of the Station House. Photos on the daily sightings page. Dave

Sorry, I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to technology! The planner who seems to be in charge is Andy Roberts on [email protected] Dave

That's because you're the one who told me about the sighting! I note that you have since edited your initial post to add "(per CB Bird Reports)", whatever that means. The bird is still present today, if anyone's interested. Incidentally, talking about the council, is everyone aware that that the...

As Jon has rightly stated, Twite is an extremely rare bird in Cornwall. The last accepted record that I am aware of, was in November 1988 (involving a flock of 17 birds) but prior to this there had been just 13 occurences. The only spring record was in March 1901. When checking your books, as...

I have just registered with ruffled feathers and it is nothing like I had been led to believe or envisaged. Therefore I think the only sensible thing I can do is ignore Mr Freestone's scurrilous lies and half truths and nip his nonsense in the bud. If he persists I will simply refer his posts to...

I know, but when I have tried PM's in the past Mr Freestone's comments have been both threatening and abusive. He obviously has major anger management issues. I have suggested ruffled feathers, let's hope he has the sense to move there or move on, figuratively that is! Dave

Paul, I have no desire to get drawn into endless arguments with you as they are futile. Logic, accuracy and truth seem to be alien subjects to you. A simple comment from me has elicited to the usual tirade of pettiness, inaccuracies and lies that were all too familiar the last time we...
