Bozo Basic urban park checklist

Early Spring
Looking good so far. Species back in the Manistee area starting March 6: Horned Larks, Eastern Bluebirds, American Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds,Winter Wren, Red-shouldered Hawk,American Woodcock, and Sandhill Cranes. Forecast still mild for the next week 40-50'sF! BA -

Michigan birders going to Peru
There are still a couple of spots open on a trip to Peru from April 29 to May 6 with Kolibri Expeditions. Leaving from Grand Rapids we fly to Lima do a pelagic and then head up into the Andes to one of the most birdy areas of the world, with a possible 500 trip species in this short trip. see... -
Help on Yellow-billed Loon..

Yellow-billed Loon!
A potential first state record Yellow-billed Loon was spotted yesterday and re-found today in Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan's Upper Penninsula. From the photos I've seen the bird looks like it is in juvenile plumage. Hopefully it will stay around for awhile as the area it is in near the power... -
Manistee and Benzie Christmas Bird Counts
The Manistee and Benzie Christmas Bird counts will be held in two weeks. Manistee will be on December 19th and Benzie on December 20th. Both areas are great places for winter birding (lots of White-winged Crossbills during last years invasion) and need more volunteers. leave a message on the... -
Good time of the year to check Lake Michigan
recent sightings from the Lake Michigan shore from Frankfort to Manistee and Ludington include Red-throated Loons, Purple Sandpipers, Red Phalarope, Harlequin Ducks all seen this last weekend. -
