Identification

Distribution

An arc from western Kenya through southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, extreme eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, extreme western Tanzania, and extreme north-eastern Zambia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Placed in genus Serinus by Clements.
Some authorities1 treat the East African Citril and Western Citril as subspecies of the African Citril.

Habitat

Moist woodland, forest edge and adjacent grassland, gardens.
