- Ptilinopus wallacii
Identification
26cm. Green, scarlet crown and forehead, white throat, orange shoulder patch, yellow bill, purplish feet and long green tail, pale blue-grey breast and neck, orange belly, with a white patch in between. Both sexes are similar.
Distribution
Lesser Sunda Islands, southern Maluku, Aru Island and in southwestern New Guinea.
Taxonomy
Monotypic. Placed in a species-group with Pink-spotted Fruit Dove, Ornate Fruit Dove, Tanna Fruit Dove and Orange-fronted Fruit Dove.
Habitat
Coastal forest, woodland and mangrove, but also in adjacent savanna and locally inland along rivers.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruit and berries.
