Identification
Around 16 cm
- Upperside brown to rufous
- Crown of similar color but with small white spots
- Underside with white ground color and brownish blotches
- Eyes yellow
- Bill and feet yellow-horn
Distribution
Indonesia, Greater Sundas: Borneo and Sumatra
Taxonomy
Sunda Owlet was formerly included in Collared Owlet.
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1].

- G. s. borneense:
Habitat
Montane forests, more often primary forest rather than disturbed habitat.
Behaviour
Food is presumed to be mostly insects but sometimes also include smaller vertebrates.
Vocalisation
A series of seven whistles which differ in rhythm from Collared Owlet. Sometimes the series is interrupted after the fourth note by a shorter pause.
