Identification

19 cm - a small species

• Short ear tufts, short wings and short tail
• Mostly brown with some buffy on underside
  • Black streaks and buffy mottling
• Eyes yellow, bill yellowish horn
• Legs mostly feathered

Distribution

Siau Island in the Sangir Archipelago^[4].

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Until recently, Siau Scops Owl was considered a subspecies of one of these two species: Sulawesi Scops Owl - Otus manadensis or Moluccan Scops Owl - Otus magicus

Habitat

Presumably forest

Behaviour

Not known at this time

Vocalisation

Described as a two-part rolling sound that lasts less than one second.
