- Bill: black upper and yellow lower mandible
Male: blue back Female: Green back with buff spots
Distribution
Southeast Asia: found in Indochina, Myanmar, Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Island of Borneo, Indonesia, Greater Sundas and Sumatra.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Three subspecies are recognized[1]:
- A. c. concretus:
- Southern Myanmar, Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Bangka and Belitung islands
- A. c. peristephes:
- Sputhern Myanmar and peninsula Thailand
- A. c. borneanus:
Habitat
Freshwater streams in broad-leaved evergreen tropical lowland forest and forest edges. Deep jungle.
Behaviour
Diet
Their varied diet consists of fish, lizards, scorpions, snakes and snails etc.
