Coenocorypha barrierensis

Identification

Last seen in 1870 on Little Barrier Islands when the specimen was taken.
Extinct on North Islands after the introduction of Pacific Rats following the settlement of the Maoris.

Distribution

Formerly on North Island, Browns and Little Barrier Islands, New Zealand.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
It is sometimes included in Subantarctic Snipe.
