Identification

- Brown upperparts
- Greyish-brown head and mantle
- Reddish-brown upper-tail coverts
- Whitish throat
- Orange orbital skin with a black border
Female similar, but duller.
Distribution
South America: found in the Andes of north-western Argentina
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Puna grassland between 1800 and 3200 m.
Behaviour
Diet
They are ground feeders and generally seen in groups. There is now information on their diet.
