Taxomomy
Formerly placed in the genus Geotrygon
Subspecies
- Z. l. linearis -- Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (northern Colombia), Andes of Colombia and Venezuela, and coastal ranges of northern Venezuela east to southeastern Miranda
- Z. l. trinitatis -- coastal northeastern Venezuela (Sucre and northern Monagas), Trinidad, and Tobago
Subspecies trinitatis was recently proposed as a full species.
