Overview

Jasper National Park, at 10,878 square kilometres in size, is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies and is part of a World Heritage Site. It was founded in 1907 and is located in Alberta, north of Banff National Park. 277 species of birds and 69 different species of mammals can be found in the Park.

Areas of Interest

  • Columbia Icefield Area and the Athabasca Glacier, 103km south of Jasper, on the Icefields Parkway (Parkway 93). The Icefields Centre is open May to October.
  • Athabasca Falls, 30km south of Jasper. At the junction of Parkway 93A and 93.
  • Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake and Maligne Lake.
  • Sunwapta Falls, 55km south of Jasper. Motel and restaurant open May to October.
  • Miette Hotsprings, 61 km north of Jasper. Road and facilities open mid-May to mid-October.

Access and Facilities

Jasper National Park is open year round and the busiest months are July and August.

Daily Entrance fees - 2013 rates:

  • Adult ~ CA$9.80
  • Senior (65 & over) ~ CA$8.30
  • Youth (6-16 years) ~ CA$4.90
  • Family/Group (up to 7 people in a single vehicle) ~ CA$19.60
