South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil
Taxonomy
This species is allopatric with the Pale-winged Trumpeter, P. leucoptera.
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- P. c. napensis:
- P. c. crepitans:
- P. c. ochroptera:
- Northwest Brazil north of the Amazon and west of Rio Negro
ochroptera was formerly regarded as subspecie of Pale-winged Trumpeter.
Habitat
Humid forests. Often seen near human habitation.

Diet
They eat most ripe fruit.
