Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies[1]:

  • I. r. caeruleoventris:
  • Western and Central Andes of north-western Colombia
  • I. r. ignicapillus:
  • Western and Central Andes of south-western Colombia
  • I. r. rufivertex:
  • I. r. subsimilis:
  • Western slope of Western Andes of Ecuador

Habitat

Temperate cloud forest.

Behaviour

Diet

Little is known, but their diet appears to consist of vegetation, seeds and animals.
