Overview
Gede – Pangrango National Park, or Gunung Gede-Pangrango National Park as it may be seen as, is located in the province of West Java south of Jakarta, Indonesia. [3] Gunung, also seen as Gunong, is an Indonesian/Malay word for a mountain that is routinely used throughout Southeast Asia in mountain and volcano, names. [1]
Gede-Pangrango makes up the central area of the Cibodas Biosphere Reserve. Contained within the park are two volcanoes, Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango, rain-forests, and numerous species that are endemic to Java. It's surrounded by a buffer zone with working forests, agricultural pursuits such as tea and rice, and human settlements. [3]

Gede-Pangrango National Park is the home of a recorded 217 species of birds along with 5 globally threatened species.
Another consideration, applicable to the park, is the 34 endemic species that have been recorded here.
Like all areas, there exists threatened species. As an ironic note, the Indonesian State Bird, the Javan Hawk-Eagle, is recorded as endangered. [2] However, there is an effort being made to work toward bolstering the species, especially since it is only found on the island of Java where Gede-Pangrango is located. [5]
Endemics
Some of the many (Indonesian) endemic species attributed to Gede-Pangrango include[2] the Chestnut-bellied Partridge, Green Junglefowl, Gray-cheeked Green-Pigeon, Pink-headed Fruit-Dove, Dark-backed Imperial Pigeon, Javan Frogmouth, Flame-fronted Barbet, Brown-throated Barbet, Spotted Kestrel, Sunda Minivet, Sunda Cuckooshrike, Rufous-tailed Fantail, White-bellied Fantail, Olive-backed Tailorbird, Sunda Bulbul, Sunda Warbler, Javan Tesia, Pygmy Tit, Lemon-bellied White-eye, Grey-cheeked Tit-Babbler, Crescent-chested Babbler, White-bibbed Babbler, Javan Fulvetta, Blood-breasted Flowerpecker, Scarlet-headed Flowerpecker, and the Javan Munia.

National parc is reachable on foot from Cibodas
Travel to Cibodas from Jakarta take on weekend
until 6 a clock around 1,45 h
later between 4 - 5 h
In the afternoon back also 4 - 5 h, so is better go back midday or next morning.
Nationalparc open at 6 a clock, but permit You get from 9 a clock ( copy of passport and visa is needed ).
Best recommend, start in Jakarta at 4 a clock, cross the gate before 6 a clock.
