Identification
Distribution
Local populations in south-eastern and extreme south-western Australia: found in New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
It prefers large, well-vegetated fresh-water swamps, but moves to open water after breeding or in dry periods.
Behaviour
Diet
They feed by dabbling in shallow water, often by wading near the edge.
