Distribution
Endemic to Borneo, found in Natuna, Banggi, Cagayan and Sulu islands.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Found in a wide variety of habitats, including lowland shrub-lands, grasslands and forests, paddy fields, riverbanks and reed beds; sometimes gardens.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes grass seeds, seeds of weeds, and rice grains.
Breeding
They nest in holes in banks. The 3-6 eggs are incubated for about 13 days. The young fledge about 3 weeks later.
