Genus: Ceratogymna

Description

Two large African Hornbills.

  • Females with much smaller casques than males
  • Predominantly black plumage
  • Blue pendulous wattles

Like the genus Bycanistes they live in forests and their behaviour is similar to the Asian Hornbills.

Taxonomy

Ceratogymna is a genus in the Family Bucerotidae.
The six species of the genus Bycanistes were formerly included in this genus.
