Budderoo National Park is located in New South Wales, about 2 hours drive south of Sydney. It is 7,120 hectares in size and contains the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre and Carrington Falls.

In the woodlands of Budderoo you could find: Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Yellow Robin, Striated Thornbill and a number of honeyeaters, and in the heathlands you are likely to see: Richard's Pipit, Flame Robin, Superb Fairywren, Southern Emuwren, Tawny-crowned Honeyeater and Beautiful Firetail.

In the Minnamurra Rainforest these birds are fairly easy to see: Superb Lyrebird, Eastern Whipbird, Wonga Pigeon, Brown Cuckoo-Dove, Australian King Parrot, Satin Bowerbird, Yellow-throated Scrubwren, Australian Logrunner, Green Catbird.

The first loggers began harvesting trees around the Minnamurra Rainforest in the early 1800s. This eventually caused the destruction of the much more extensive 'Illawarra Brush' rainforest environment and Minnamurra is now the only remnant of that forest left. The remaining forest and scrub was then cleared for farming and dairy farming became the most important industry in the area. In 1904, an area (20 hectares) was set aside as a crown reserve and people began to visit. In the 1930s, an on-site ranger was appointed and over the next 30 years he realised that with the increasing visitor usage, the area needed to be protected if the rainforest was going to survive. By the early 1980s, about 80,000 people were visiting Minnamurra every year, so the Minnamurra Falls Reserve, as it was known then, was transferred to the National Parks and Wildlife Service of NSW, which has carried out a program of rehabilitation, environmental restoration conservation ever since. Budderoo National Park was created in 1986.

• Minnamurra Rainforest Centre - located in the northeast of the park, is a rare remnant of the rainforests which were once covered much of the Illawarra region. There are paved walking tracks and raised timber boardwalks for exploration of the rainforest.
• Carrington Falls

Minnamurra Rainforest facilities: the Lyrebird Cafe, shop, picnic tables, gas/electric barbecues, several shelter sheds, in case of inclement weather, flush toilets, and drinking water.
NB: the walks will be closed for maintenance and renovation from 1 June to about end of August, 2009.
