Identification

• Olive brown head and upperparts
• White throat and chin streaked black
• White underparts
• Grey sides to neck
• Buff supercilium
• Olive tail
• Brown iris
• Black upper mandible, pink lower
• Pink legs

Distribution

Asia: found in China, Tibet, India, Western Himalayas, Bangladesh, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in genus Bradypterus by Gill and Donsker.

Subspecies^[1]

There are 2 subspecies:

• L. l. luteoventris:

• Himalayas of eastern Nepal to north-eastern India (Assam), south-eastern Tibet and south-western China

• L. l. ticehursti:

• Southern Myanmar and northern Thailand

Habitat

Coniferous forest edges, scrubland, bamboo, to 3000m.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects.

Breeding

The nest is placed in tall grass and 2 eggs are laid.
