Identification

  • Olive brown head and upperparts
  • White throat and chin streaked black
  • White underparts
  • Grey sides to neck
  • Buff supercilium
  • Olive tail
  • Brown iris
  • Black upper mandible, pink lower
  • Pink legs

Distribution

Asia: found in China, Tibet, India, Western Himalayas, Bangladesh, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in genus Bradypterus by Gill and Donsker.

Habitat

Coniferous forest edges, scrubland, bamboo, to 3000m.

Diet

The diet includes insects.

Breeding

The nest is placed in tall grass and 2 eggs are laid.
