Identification

24cm

  • Dark red body
  • Purple-blue cheeks, chin, and ear-coverts
  • Purple-blue abdomen and undertail coverts
  • Black streaked wings
  • Orange bill (pink in juvenile)
  • Red-brown tail
  • Orange/red eye

Distribution

South-east Asia: found in the montane forests of Seram (southern Moluccas)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Trees 1600-2400m.

Behaviour

The diet includes flowers.
