    Gull ID Sussex

Herring Gull argenteus would be the expected species. Taken early January in Sussex, UK. Couple of things seemed odd, the bill looks a bit long forward of the gonys, with the dark mark on it, the eye is pretty dark (appears to be an adult?), and the streaking on the head and neck seems quite...

    A few from Lima, Peru

Wasn't sure whether you edited your post or if I'd missed the parenthesis after the dove ID, but yeah I get now it's a split of what used to be considered the same species. Still waiting to hear back from my Mum about whether 5 is a different bird from 2. I'd thought the bill looked longer but...

    A few from Lima, Peru

Cheers for input Butty. How do you arrive at White-winged rather than West Peruvian Dove? My first thought was White-winged as I'd never heard of West Peruvian, but searches on google suggested the extent of blue around the eye, the lack of a black mark on the cheek, and the range were all...

    A few from Lima, Peru

Hi all, a few photos attached of some birds my Mum photographed on her phone on her first morning in Lima. I'm pretty sure the dove is West Peruvian Dove? The sparrow/bunting I'm not at all sure on. The black bird I assume is some kind of cowbird... Bronzed Cowbird maybe? My Mum commented on...

Ficedula flycat, today at Marrakesh, Morocco.

This is what I was wondering, but for example, the first summer Collared Flycatcher in Yorkshire recently showed a large amount of white in the forehead: Collared Flycatcher by Anthony Hull I've seen Collared and Pied, but not Iberian or Atlas, so hopefully someone with experience of those...

    Lizard ID? UK

Somewhere like Shoreham they would have come from importation on boats I presume? Is it a genetic job to seperate the species/subspecies? A few attached of ones I've taken at Shoreham Fort. Well worth a visit by the OP to get good views of them (buggers to get close enough to with a macro though!)

Ficedula flycat, today at Marrakesh, Morocco.

I agree it's 2cy though, and can't find any specific resource to them in that plumage. Just can't see anything myself to suggest other than nominate. Would be interested to know your thoughts?

Ficedula flycat, today at Marrakesh, Morocco.

Can't be Ficedula speculigera with that little white on forehead. The extent of white on the forehead and wing looks too little for Iberian to me too, so in as far as the photos go (i.e. nothing genetic), it looks like nominate Pied Ficedula hypoleuca

    Lizard ID? UK

As far as I can tell from an online search, they're Podarcis muralis as Richard D suggested. I'm certainly not a reptile expert!

    Great Reed Warbler?

    Hi, it's a Cetti's Warbler

    Lizard ID? UK

Yeah as Farnboro John says there's a colony of them in Shoreham. They're easy to see with a little patience around Shoreham Fort

some type of thrush? S.E. Massachusetts today

Looks like there might be some chest spotting in the first pic, and the eyering looks pretty conspicuous, so I would have gone with Swainson's

    Wader (Fuerteventura)

I can see what looks like a pale front border, not sure on the colour, but at least that would make the legs normal thickness. The black bit alone would be almost impossibly thin

    Wader (Fuerteventura)

The bottom bit is the foot bent backwards as it's walking I presume
