Sorry to resurrect the thread. But are there any more comments on the close focus distance between the curio versus ultravid?
I'm eye'ing my next pocket binocular purchase. All the continued high praise (brightness, depth of field) of the curio really makes them standout but I know from experience I prefer pocket bins with good/better close focus distance.
I've so far used two pocket bins with an alleged 2m close focus distance. One had slightly better close focus distance than the other though on paper they were supposedly the same. And so the better close focus one had more utility for me even though the optics weren't as good.
Regarding the present comparison, as indicated in the earlier comments the close focus distance (according to B&H) of the ultravid's are 5.9ft/1.8m versus 8.2ft/2.5m on the curio's. So in practice there will be difference yet it seems like there's sample to sample variation? Such as the curio's maybe coming to focus closer than expected?
I guess it boils down to how you want to use and for what objects.
