Common Green Darner (Anax junius: Aeshnidae) These large dragonflies are 6.8 to 8.4 cm (2.68 to 3.31 in) long with a wingspan of 9.0-11.4 cm (3.54-4.49 in). The blue abdomen signifies this specimen as a male. Photographed at Pollywog Pond in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, USA. Black willow/Green ash/Buttonbush/cottonwood dominated Nueces River bottomlands surrounding sanitary sewer settling ponds at ca. 9 m (30 ft) elevation.
