I have an owl box in my front yard. Usually the owl is in the hole late afternoon, dusk. Today the owl has been poking out most of the day. What does this mean?

We have Screech's visit hole near our yard frequently. This time of year, if it's there regularly, I would say it's likely you will have a nesting owl. We not infrequently see ours in the opening sunbathing. Even if nocturnal (crepuscular really?), they will sunbathe when it's cool but sunny. At the point where you quit seeing it altogether, don't give up hope - it's likely sitting on eggs ;-)
