Yorkshire Birding (23 Viewers)

Signed the petition.

On LSW at Adel, we're regular visitors and have only once seen one, five years ago. It's rare not to see at least one GSW, or a SpHk or two.

A mate of mine works for the Trust and visits several times a week. I'll ask what he's seen recently.

Please help us oppose the planning application to expand Sandy Beaches Caravan site here at Spurn by liking the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/saynotomorecaravans and signing the e-petition here http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/opposition-to-the-planned-expansion-of-sandy this will only take a short moment of your time and we'd be very grateful if you could, please pass this on to your friends, many thanks

Signed.

I was at Spurn for a few hours today (quiet day, Merlin highlight!) and read the planning application notice. It seems Sandy Beaches are moving inland as the information suggests the phased clearance of the existing site?

There's no getting away from it, caravan sites are a bloody eyesore when in open landscapes like East Yorkshire. The present one isn't too bad as it's on flat land so can't be seen from too far away, and you don't get a sense of the scale of it. As I understand it, the proposed site is on a bit of a gradient so will be more noticeable; it will be very detrimental to the visual landscape of what is a very special area (not to mention the habitat destruction mentioned elsewhere here).

I really hope this doesn't get the go ahead, good luck with your campaign.
