Where to see chickadees in Boston? (1 Viewer)

Welcome to the forum. There are number of great areas in and around the Boston area to see chickadees and many other birds. Here are just a few:

The Arnold Arboretum -- located in the Jamaica Plain section. Chickadees and many other birds can be found here throughout the year.

Mount Auburn Cemetery -- in Cambridge; famous throughout New England for its birds, especially during spring migration in May

Fresh Pond -- also in Cambridge. The area around the pond can be very good during migration

You should be able to find more information about each of these by doing a Google search on the Internet

Hope this helps,
Jim

Actually the Black-capped chickadee is the state bird. Find a little green and you are likely to see one. I second the Mt Auburn Cemetery recommendation.

Yes, the black-capped Chickadee is our state bird here in Massachusetts. They are also one of my favorites!

You won't need to look far to see one as they are abundant, but they are also a bit timid, so stand still for a while anywhere near trees and they will show up!! If you are going to Boston proper, go to the Boston COmmons, it's a large park. Sit on a bench and wait. You will have to put up with the pigeons, of course, but the Chickadees are there!

Have a great time!
Sheila
