Hi all,
I can remember reading that Goshawks are now breeding in a number of European cities. As a few friends and I are due to visit Poland on Friday, I was wondering if there are any in Warsaw, as we will have some time to spend there on Saturday morning?
Regards,
Harry

Hi,

There are some, but I don't know nests. Best bet can be Las Bielanski and Las Mlocinski, two ubran forests in N Warsaw, easily accessible by city bus and relatively close to each other.

Goshawk is always shy, but you might see eg. Red-breasted Flycatcher in S Las Bielanski, near semi-open area with old oaks and wooden beams. Also Hawfinch, Golden Oriole, 5 woodpeckers etc. Try early morning or late afternoon as both forest can be full of people!

Las/Park Mlocinski - N of streets Pulkowa and Papirusow; bus: 103,106,181 to stop Dzierzoniowska. This is more likely to see Goshawk.

Las/Park Bielanski - near streets: Modlinska, Dewajtis, Podlesna. For RBF - go north of junction of Podlesna and Peplinska. Bus: 121,128, 157, 185, 197 to stop Lektykarska or Gwiazdzista near RBF; or tram 6;15;17 or 27 to other part of the forest.
