Hi there

I'm new to this forum

I am having some difficulty identifying this starling I found in my garden in johannesburg

At first I thought it was a glossy starling however the black feathers and grey eye (glossy starlings having an orange eye) make me think it is something else

Some help would be really appreciated

Hi Neallake and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I don't know a lot about your SA birds, but what about this one - Burchell's Starling? Just a thought... you'd maybe be better to wait for some of the ID experts to pop in though.

I hope you enjoy your time here with us.

The eye suggests that this is a young bird possibly the widespread Cape Glossy.

Not sure that Burchell's is a garden bird in Joburg?
