Unbalanced scope + camera (1 Viewer)

Hello,

This is a beginners question :). I have an Opticron mm3 60 which I use with my dslr for digiscoping.

The problem is that the whole combination is extramaly tail heavy. As a result the following happens: when I find what I want to photograph through the screen or viewfinder and I tight the tripod head to stop it moving and I release the handle, it alway moves a tiny bit upwards throwing the object out of frame (am I explaining myself?).

Is there a way to avoid that, or perhaps this is due to a low quality tripod (I am using a cheap light velbon).

Thanks
G

It would help to know what kind of camera your using that makes this "tail heavy" and what kind of head you have on your tripod. It's likely the head rather than the tripod itself that's causing the movement.

A long lens plate may help or add a bit of weight to the lens hood to counter balance the camera.
