Tajikistan: Buzzard and Rosefinch (1 Viewer)

There were quite a few Rosefinches around, here the only pics I could get. Both female and male were seen at the same time, so presumelably part of the same flock...
My only reference is "Birds of Central Asia", and the male looks more like Red-mantled Rosefinch (pinkish supercilium, convex culmen of the bill), while the female has a hint of a white supercilum and the culmen looks straight, which is rather Blyth's Rosefinch, according to the book. However, I have no experience with those, so I'd be happy for comments.

I say both are Red-mantled.
A female Blythe's should be paler underneath with more contrsting and slightly finer streaking but the apparent eye stripe is a bit confusing but it does warn in the book that this can be affected by light.
This a female R-m and shows a hint of an eyestripe too.

Red-mantled imo too (although the female is harder?) The Buteo looks like a rufinus to me (but a flight shot would help of course)

rufinus can look very similar to vulpinus at the far east of its range where both species occur, hence my caution!

Yes this is why I said ‘rufinus’ in my first post that and the structure of the face. It does seem a fairly ‘typical’ rufinus but I’m always happier to see the whole bird
