Hi,
All birds seen at Col de Cluy, near l'Alpe d'Huez.

Pic 1-2-3 : thinking of Linnet, but not sure
Pic 5-6-7-8 : Linnet again?
Pic 9-10-11-12 : pretty sure Ortolan Bunting. There were 2 of them. Juvenile ? Might be interesting...
Pic 13-14-15-16 : thinking of Meadow Pipit, but the rump is streaked ?!

Hi Gduff, I can't comment on the bunting as I have no experience of them but I think that you are good with Linnet for 1, 2 and 3 - even on this tricky photo you can see the pale area around the eye and I think the grey head and brown back on the third picture. 5, 6, 7, 8 again I think is good for linnets - again you can see the male's grey head and brown back on the last picture. But I think your pipit is a tree pipit - I say this based on head/bill shape and structure, pale pink lower bill, clear dark stripe in front of the eye and pale pink legs with a "normal" sized hind claw (compared to meadow pipit). More tricky but I think it also shows an orangey coloured upper breast and clean white lower breast with some very thin streaking. Very nice pictures of the pipit and bunting by the way. I will wait and see what the opinion is on the bunting so I can learn something.
